October is here and Halloween is coming up next! I am sharing with you my plans for Halloween night and how I decorate for this fun Fall holiday!

Although Fall is my favorite season I have never been big into Halloween. I guess I celebrate what you would call the PG version of Halloween, I like to give out treats to Trick-or-Treaters and dress up but that’s about it. I can’t watch scary movies (nightmares), I don’t go to parties (introvert), and truth be told I can’t have that much candy (too much sugar).

My love to decorate and fear of all things scary do make this holiday a little fun. I like to keep things more “me” by keeping everything gold and white. I’m not fond of the traditional Halloween colors so I like to keep it neutral. I prefer to decorate with pumpkins, cute ghosts, candles, owls and everything Harry Potter that I own. (Yes, I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan!)

Every year leading up to the end of October I do have a few movies on rotation, Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus and Rocky Horror Picture Show. (I can’t wait to see the new Rocky Horror October 20th on TV!) I know a weird combo, but I do watch them every year just not all in one night. Plus I love all of the movies on the Hallmark channel, which is what I watch on Halloween.

Halloween night is a bit laid back at my house, we don’t get many trick-or-treaters so my family and I just like to have a movie night. Last year I started having a teal pumpkin and I can’t tell you how wonderful it was for parents to recognize the symbol and get excited. Given that I have so many allergies myself I love the idea of helping keep other kid’s safe. If you haven’t heard of the Teal Pumpkin Project yet you can check it out here.
