Formal night is always one of my favorites. Y’all know I love to dress up and I am up for any excuse to pack some formals. I went all out for my first formal night on the cruise last month I even scheduled a photoshoot during the sunset. Not really, in fact these windy pictures were completely accidental and turned out amazing!

I knew as soon as I laid eyes on this dress that it would be perfect for my trip. Rosegal has such awesome affordable formal dresses to choose from but this one kept calling my name. It’s actually a fun, flowy dress. Wind excluded. It has a Grecian draped top but it’s more modern on the bottom with an underdress that goes down to the thigh and sheer cover that continues to the floor. I just love the bit of sparkle that pairs the two styles in the center.
I kept the sparkle theme going with my old Cinderella mirror earrings from Baublebar and silver slingback heels from Nine West. I then only wore my normal jewelry, my pandora bracelet and my tanzanite ring from Effy. I wanted to keep it simple and classic. Except for my hair, that’s where I decided to add a playful touch.
How perfect are these starfish hair pins?!? I thought they would be a perfect touch for my trip. I knew I would wear them with this dress and then I could always add them to a braid on land days. It comes in a set of six and there is a bit of sparkle to them. The best part? They are less than $5!!! Talk about Mermaid Glam y’all!
Formal night is actually a bit of a divided subject amongst cruisers. Some don’t want to dress up and avoid it, but I just love it! I’m always game for a reason to play dress up and on the ship they make it extra special. The dining room gets changed to a different menu, white tablecloths and fun decorations on the tables. The photographers have special back drops, the officers get dressed up and there are even meet a greets with the Captain. I actually had three formal night or “elegant night” as they call it on my last trip but this was my favorite one by far.
Have a blessed week y’all!! My goal for the week is to actually unpack. I attempted this weekend and realized that I was actually just pretending. And now all of my clean laundry are in my suitcase making it packed even more. LOL. Guess I’m ready to go back on vacation!
