I have been counting down the days until Avengers: Endgame comes out and I couldn’t be more excited that it’s landing next weekend! To celebrate the big release and hopefully answers to all of my questions I put together a viewing party worthy of an Avenger. It’s perfect to binge watch all of the movies and brush up on my hero’s before they save the day. My Dad and I always see the movies together, so although I am not going opening weekend as we need to coordinate our schedules I will be seeing it soon.
I thought pretty hard about the menu as I wanted everything to tie in. Because there are so many characters in the latest movies I kept it narrowed down to Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk. Or as I like to call them, the main four. (#TeamThor) I have the Tesseract Movie Bundle from when the first Avengers came out and it was perfectly filled with items from the movie to help decorate the table. Such as Thor’s drivers license, Iron Man’s original plans for the suit and case files on all of the big players.
Of course no theme party would be complete without me designing something, so I created this graphic print to stand center of the table. A little graphic designer nerd moment: all of the colors are the original colors representing the heroes.
Let’s start with Thor. Root Beer is a big hit in my family and is always a crowd pleaser. My designer self came out again and I designed brand new labels branding the god of thunder his very own Thunder Ale! It’s bound to be a hit in Asgard! Stickers are another great alternative, otherwise you can reach out to your local sign company and get something printed for that extra touch. Also, notice the table runner! I scored it at Homegood’s, it reminded me so much of Thor’s armor and it’s gold metallic so I know I will reuse it for many things to come.
Anyone remember during the big battle in the Avengers when Iron Man wants to get shawarma after they were done defeating the alien army? Or the amazing scene after the credits where they are all eating shawarma? Well, I thought it would be best to start it off with some yummy shawarma from my favorite place this side of Ann Arbor. Star’s Cafe does an AMAZING job! I actually ordered three sandwiches and just cut them in half because they are so big. Star’s has a couple of versions but I kept it vegetarian with two falafel sandwiches and one cauliflower. Then I tied them together with a big Tony Stark bow.
I knew I wanted something sweet for Cap. I even debated making a large cake with his shield. Until I came across this cupcake kit from Homegoods complete with super hero mask. I knew immediately that it was perfect to represent Captain America. Not to mention these funfetti cupcakes were delicious and the frosting was even better! It’s never a bad idea to make it a bit easier for yourself as a hostess, so ordering sandwiches and making cupcakes out of a kit takes stress of off me and helps me whip things together a whole lot faster.
Hulk is always poppin’ with anger so I thought popcorn would suit him best. After all you can’t have a movie marathon without popcorn! Some other little details are the gushers for the infinity stones. I can’t tell you how much I missed gushers, those things were so yummy. I haven’t had them since I was a kid! Also, you’ll notice Stan Lee had to make an appearance on my table. In honor of the legend that past and his never ending cameo’s I couldn’t have done this without him.
Are you doing anything special for the movie? If you’re planning a movie night I hope I helped with some ideas for you. I know mine was a big hit!
Have a fabulous Easter weekend y’all! HE IS RISEN!
