Before & After: Sewing Room

Never in my wildest did I think that my sewing room would be the first before and after that I would be sharing with y’all. But after a vision, rush of adrenaline, lack of sleep and lots of peanut M&M’s this room came together perfectly in four days this past weekend.

I actually thought that this was going to be the last room that I would share. It quickly became the catch all room as I was moving in with no hope in sight of ever coming together. I was thrilled last month when I finally made a path to the sewing machine and thought that was it. Until last week, when I suddenly had an idea of where everything was going to go and I could have room for my dream fabric storage. Naturally, I got up and got to work fast!

I started painting. Now, I’m 5’6” with cathedral height ceilings. I just want you to appreciate the ladder work that goes into getting those points and the bruises on my calves from staying up there too long. I split my painting into two days, the first with the grey and the second with the teal wall. After the teal was completed I slowly started putting half of the room together. My fabric bins arrived the third day and I ran over to Ikea to pick up the Kallax storage unit that I’ve had my eye on for years. It was out of stock for days and you better believe I was stalking the website until it came in. If you’ve been following me for a while and have caught my previous Ikea trips let me tell you, this one was not great either. I wish I would have qualified for shipping. But, I was patient, I got the unit I love, drove home through a monsoon and stayed up really late at night putting it together. The fourth day I got to enjoy my coffee and slowly put together the rest of the room including the bins full of fabric.

Of course, my living room is still a mess from everything I took out of the sewing room. I told you it was a catch all. I can barely move as the adrenaline has ran out, I had a Wonder Woman moment lifting the entire shelve myself causing me to be a bit sore and still am not able to sleep. Despite the exhaustion, pain and paint stains still in my sink I can’t help but smile as the final room in my home is complete. The first picture worthy one at that! Everything was worth it and I couldn’t be happier! Now, if only I could actually sew in it…

It’s done! Now I have to jump back into my space world as I work through my never-ending to-do list. I do have fun plans for next weekend though, fingers crossed! Have a blessed week y’all!
