‘Tis the season to grab some cocoa and have a Nutcracker viewing party or even just a reason to get together with your nearest and dearest. Y’all know I love a theme and this one is fit for the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Land of the Sweets that she calls home.
The Nutcracker is a big part of my annual Christmas traditions, it’s even kind of the theme of my Christmas decor. Ok… It’s totally the theme of my Christmas decor. I’m even thinking about calling my Tower the Nutcracker Suite during this season due to my army kind of taking over. I attend the local production every year, have a version of the ballet on DVD and even loved the latest Disney adaptation. I know local productions of the Nutcracker all over the world have either been cancelled or are figuring out a way to have a virtual production of the ballet due to this pesky pandemic we found ourselves in. That doesn’t mean we can’t have our closest and dearest over to have ourselves a little viewing party!
This theme was so fun to play off of, all things pink, purple and snowy white! I will admit though, people started looking at me funny when I was asking if they had pink candy canes. Granted, they really didn’t want to talk to me anyways since that’s become somewhat of our new normal. Unfortunately.
The sweets tower is filled with cupcakes, cookies, candy canes, gum drops, rock candy, jelly candy and popcorn. Why popcorn you might ask? Because there are so many sweets I needed something to help cut it! Besides, I love snacking on popcorn. It’s also fitting for a tree, so I figured why not make little cupcake filled popcorn cups for something salty.
It is a hot cocoa bar, so I wanted to keep those normal cocoa toppings. Marshmallows, chocolate chips, candy cane sticks, whip cream and sprinkles of course!
I always like to throw in some homemade yummy goodness as my family calls it. The cupcakes are completely made from scratch! They are vanilla bean with a vanilla bean frosting. That’s right, I did them all myself! I also made the whip cream from scratch! This girl loves her kitchen aid and piping bags.
I don’t know about y’all, but I’m ready to kick of the Christmas season. So, here’s to sugar plums dancing in your heads this week!
