Blue Asymmetrical Top & Matinee at the Purple Rose Theatre

Do you have a bucket list for your own town? You know that list of things that you’ve always wanted to see and do but never made the time to do? That’s exactly how going the Purple Rose was for me. I had always wanted to go at least once, and I could never believe that my theatre loving self just had never made it to a performance before. Bus loads of people come every week just to see the productions and I literally live less than a mile away and it took me 28 years to get there. Never the less, I finally went and it was magical.

This post contains items gifted by Gamiss but picked out by myself.

It was a normal Saturday morning when my Mom and I decided to go to the Farmer’s Market. Luck just made it so that I had the primo parking spot not only in front of the Market, but also directly in front of the entrance to the Purple Rose. The Purple Rose is a local theatre owned by Actor Jeff Daniels that puts on performances every week and draws in quite a bit of tourism to our tiny town of Chelsea. On the way back to the car, my Mom had the idea of popping in to see if there were any tickets available for the Willow Run production that had been sold out for weeks. As luck would have it, they had two seats available because they were turned in earlier that morning for the matinee later that afternoon.

The performance was less than three hours away which meant that our Saturday plans changed real quick, giving us limited time to eat lunch and look theatre ready. I’m a theatre geek through and through. I just saw Wicked last weekend! (Which was AMAZING!!!!) This theatre is a bit small and intimate, which makes for a wonderful production. Willow Run is based off of four women’s lives during the time of the Willow Run Bomber Plant for World War II. It hits a bit close to home for many people that I’ve spoken with about it, and even for me. As I had three Aunts that also moved up from the South to work in the factory during that time and after hearing their stories growing up, this play made it even more real for me.

I chose to throw on some black jeans as I knew they would highlight this Blue Asymmetrical topbeautifully, and I was totally right! Not only is it a tank, which is perfect for summer but it has these fun grommets that give it far more dimension. I dressed it up a bit with these pearl heeled mules, Lilly Pulitzer Hoops, Baublebar Braceletand my favorite go-to monogram clutch.

What do you have on your local bucket list? I challenge you to try one thing on it before the craziness of the holidays hit, as I know none of us will have time for anything then. Have a great week y’all!
